What it costs to tip here

Ordinary household and business trash is weighed and billed by the ton, with a minimum per visit. Everything else on the sheet is a flat line per item or a separate per-ton class. These are the county's posted figures, not ours.

San Joaquin County residents: what rides free

Bring proof of San Joaquin County residency and a household load gets these per trip at no charge. A business load pays the posted per-item fee instead.

  • Mattresses and box springs: up to 10.
  • Refrigerators, freezers and AC units: up to 2.
  • Tires: up to 4.
  • TVs, CRTs and monitors: up to 4.
  • U-waste (fluorescent tubes, household and car batteries, small electronics): up to 9, any mix, and no more are accepted.
  • Used oil filters: up to 12.

This is the single biggest reason a self-haul to Harney Lane can cost a Lodi-area household almost nothing but the minimum.

Businesses, landlords and contractors

A business load pays the listed rate on everything: the per-ton rate for the trash and the per-item fee for each appliance, TV and tire. Business mattress loads pay the ordinary weighed rate, capped at 30 units.

If you manage rentals, the resident allowance is for the resident's own household waste. A turnover load from a rental you own is a business load.

What it takes and what it turns away

Takes: household and commercial trash, construction and demolition debris, agricultural waste, tires, refrigerators, freezers and AC units, camper shells and cabover campers with thermostats and appliances removed, and camper trailers under 25 feet if they are dismantled.

Soil and gravel: small pickup loads of soil or gravel only; large loads of soil or gravel are refused.

Refuses: hazardous waste, toxic materials, ammonia refrigerant units, liquid waste, drums over 5 gallons, large loads of soil or gravel, burned waste. Also mobile homes, RVs that are not dismantled, septic tank waste and cannery waste.

Paint, solvents, chemicals and propane go to the San Joaquin County Household Hazardous Waste Facility in Stockton (open Thursday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.). The details are in what we will not take and where it goes.

The other gate in Lodi

The WM Lodi Transfer Station at 1333 E. Turner Rd is closer to downtown, and it is the expensive one: $107.76 a ton (effective 2024-08-15), before WM's weekly-variable energy surcharge and 14.50% waste water charge. It lists $72.29 per mattress (effective 2024-08-15) at business rates and does not take construction debris. For a self-hauler, the drive out Harney Lane is worth it. The side-by-side is in every gate and every rate for 2026.

When it is cheaper to just go yourself

Here is the gate fee for three of our standard load sizes against what we charge to load and haul the same thing. The tonnage is an estimate for ordinary household junk, not a weighed job, and the gate column is North County Landfill's posted rate of $60.93 a ton with its $32.50 minimum, effective 2026-01-01.

LoadGate fee if you haul itWe load and haul it
Quarter load about 3.5 cu yd, roughly 0.35 ton$32.50$225
Half load about 7 cu yd, roughly 0.7 ton$42.65$375
Full trailer about 14 cu yd, roughly 1.4 ton$85.30$895

Go yourself if you live in San Joaquin County, have a pickup or a trailer, can lift it, and it fits in one trip. The gate charge for a light load is the $32.50 (effective 2026-01-01) minimum, and inside the resident limits your mattresses, fridge, TVs and tires ride free. That beats anything we can charge, and we would rather tell you than pretend otherwise.

The middle option is our trailer. We drop it, you load it on your own schedule, and we haul it to the gate: $275 for a day with the first ton of disposal included, delivery free within 25 minutes of our Lodi yard. Details on dump trailer rental.

Hire it out when the load is the problem, not the gate:

  • You do not have the truck. A rental truck, fuel and the afternoon are on top of every figure above.
  • It is heavy or awkward. A fridge off a back porch, a sleeper sofa down a staircase, a piano. That is where people get hurt.
  • It is more than one trip. A whole house or a packed garage turns into three or four runs out Harney Lane, each one weighed and billed on its own.
  • You are not a resident, or it is a business load. Then the free allowance does not apply, and the fridge and the TVs are billed like everything else.
  • You cannot make the gate. The 4:00 close is enforced, Sundays included.

Our prices are on the full rate card, and the junk removal page has what we take.
