Appliance removal and disposal: where your old one goes
Removal is the carry. Disposal is where the appliance ends up, and for anything with refrigerant that part is regulated. Our price covers both: $65 for a washer, dryer, range or dishwasher, $90 for a fridge, freezer or AC unit, and a $200 minimum per job.
- Pick up: we carry it out from wherever it sits, whether that is the kitchen, the garage, a basement or an upstairs laundry. Water lines, dryer vents and the gas at its shutoff valve are disconnected first.
- Still works: we try to place it with a donation partner before it goes to scrap.
- Fridges, freezers and AC units: the refrigerant is recovered by a certified handler before the metal is crushed. Section 608 of the Clean Air Act requires it, which is why the line costs more.
- Washers, dryers, ranges and water heaters: the steel goes to scrap metal recycling, not into a landfill.
- Whatever is left goes over the scale at the county gate for your city: North County Landfill for Lodi, Stockton and Tracy, Lovelace Transfer Station for Manteca, Ripon, Escalon and Lathrop, Kiefer Landfill for Galt and Elk Grove, and the North Area Recovery Station for Sacramento and Citrus Heights.

Nobody legitimate takes household hazardous waste on a junk run — it has to go through a county HHW event. We separate it out, stack it where you can find it, and tell you the nearest drop-off date instead of quietly leaving it in a corner.
What appliance removal cost
Most junk removal companies in this market will not put a price on their website. We will. You get the exact number in writing before anyone touches anything, and it does not move unless the pile does.

Questions people actually ask
Why is there a charge for refrigerators?
Refrigerant has to be recovered by a certified technician before the unit can be scrapped — that is federal law, not a made-up fee. $90 covers it. Anyone quoting you $0 on a fridge is either not recovering the refrigerant or making it up elsewhere.
Can you disconnect it?
Yes — water lines, dryer vents, and gas at the existing shutoff valve. We do not cut or cap gas lines; that is a plumber's job and we will say so.
Do you buy working appliances?
No, but if it works we will try to place it with a donation partner instead of scrapping it, which sometimes reduces your price.
What about a water heater?
$200 on its own, which is our job minimum, or $125 added to a bigger haul. We shut off the water and gas at the valves. If it needs to be drained first, tell us and we will bring time for it.
Is there free appliance removal near me?
There are honest free options, so check them before you pay anyone. If a replacement is being delivered, ask the store whether it hauls the old one away. Some cities fold appliances into their free curbside bulky pickup: the City of Sacramento gives appliances and e-waste their own two appointments a year, and Lathrop counts appliances inside its 2.5-cubic-yard pile. With a truck, San Joaquin County residents can bring up to 2 refrigerant appliances per trip to North County Landfill free with proof of residency, and Kiefer Landfill and the North Area Recovery Station take the first two large appliances at no fee (effective 2026-01-01).
When is paying for appliance removal worth it?
When the free routes do not fit: the appliance is in a basement or up a flight of stairs, it needs disconnecting, there is no truck or no helper, or it is one item in a garage full of stuff. Ours is $90 for a refrigerator or freezer, which covers certified refrigerant recovery, and $65 for a washer, dryer, range or dishwasher added to a bigger haul. One appliance on its own is our $200 job minimum.
